Endeavour Launch Now Scheduled for July 13

Space shuttle Endeavour's STS-127 launch now is scheduled for July 13 at
6:51 p.m. EDT.

Officials at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida called off Sunday's planned liftoff due to inclement weather. Cumulus clouds and lightning violated rules for launching Endeavour because of weather near the Shuttle Landing Facility. The runway would be needed in the unlikely event that Endeavour would have to make an emergency landing back at Kennedy.

The STS-127 astronauts left Launch Pad 39A at about 8:35 p.m. EDT to return to crew quarters at Kennedy's Operations & Checkout Building for the night.

Monday's live countdown coverage will begin at 1:30 p.m on NASA Television and NASA's Launch Blog.

Like to be here at launch just watch the controllors do there thing and just swivel your chair to see the launch.

48 hours it is...at least I won't have a conflict with the satellite TV on whether to watch STS-127 or the MLB all-star game...!

Well, After finally watching Endeavour launch, I've managed to see something that I've never seen before. About 20 mins after launch, I went outside and saw Endeavour go overhead with the ET following it! ET was a definite red colour - unmistakable. Trailing Endeavour by about a degree or maybe a bit less. Went into the shadow of the Earth about 45° up, but a fantastic sight to see! :-D

That's exactly what I saw - it just dissappeared into the Earth's shadow...

Astronaut Alan "Dex" Poindexter, serving as capcom in mission control, advised STS-127 CDR Mark Polansky that debris had been seen during their launch impacting Endeavour's tiles forward of the right wing's leading edge reinforced carbon-carbon (RCC) panels.

"At about 107 seconds during ascent we did see some debris events," radioed Poindexter. "It appeared to impact the starboard chine area. The impact appears to be less than what we experienced on STS-125 and we will certainly take a look at this throughout the evening and through the day tomorrow."

"We're also anxious to take a look at the [rendezvous pitch maneuver] photos during rendezvous day."

"Okay, well, thanks for the information," Polansky replied. "I'm sure we'll get a good chance for all of us to get a good look at that."

I thought it actually stayed around alot longer than the other launches, but each launch is unique.

Anyone else notice that dark patch that appeared on the heat sheild in the bottom image compared to the top? :huh:
