Actor Douglas Rain, who voiced HAL 9000 the errant computer of 2001 A Space Oddysey, passed away Sunday 11 Nov, aged 90.

I just saw 2001 in the cinema last week...
I was blown away by many details on the sound mix that I didn't notice before.

HAL's dry emotionless voice is one of them. It contrasts so much with the human voices and sounds.
A master performance.
