Let me point out that this happens only on Orbiter-Forum, and it is browser-independent.

I have no problem whatsoever when I first connect to O-F. However, when I click to view a thread, reply, etc, the connection times out. After about five minutes of constant refreshing, the connection is fine again, but only briefly.

I am connected to the internet via a wireless router, use the latest Firefox, and (generally) do not use a proxy.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Earth?
Sounds like it could be a setting in the router, O-F loads pretty fast for me using Firefox

I have been having a similar problem myself. This is the first time I have been able to connect to the forum in a couple weeks. Usually it just times out.

About a month, if my memory serves me correctly.

Of course it isn't happening at all whatsoever at the moment...

I would like to point out that this is occurring right now. No firewalls are up and no proxies (to my knowledge  ). Is there a lot of traffic as of the time and date of this post (assuming there is any way to tell)?

The forum is still working fine for me here. Are you sure it isn't an Internet connectivity problem between your PC and your ISP? e.g., a Comcast problem?

Not really, only about 114 users online at the time I think.

Interesting indeed. Have you noted it with OHM? It could be specific to your route to the server.

I don't have any useful suggestions for you to troubleshoot--sorry.

but for the record i've been using O-F everyday at all and varying times of day for the last month and have never seen this happen. actually, maybe i'm lucky but i haven't EVER seen it timeout since I started using O-F. I use latest chrome and firefox.

Huh. May possibly be due to my ISP. I'll have to try my wife's computer (only hers and mine are using the router). Strange that it only happens with O-F.

That is a strange bug! I've never noticed anything like that myself.

I noticed you mentioned it was only happening with O-F, I assume you checked Orbithangar as well? I'm wondering if you ever noticed the same issues with Orbithangar since we are on the same server.

This may be old news, but the mystery is solved. It was my ISP. I've found a nice port proxy based in Sri Lanka that has no problems whatsoever connecting to O-F and/or O-H.

A bit unorthodox, but hey, it works.
