Instead of just concentrating on what would be best in a laptop for Orbiter, wouldn't it be better to consider what else you might use it for and decide from there? In most cases I would presume that you would get a machine that might be a bit overblown for Orbiter but merely OK for other applications. Or do you intend to just dedicate the laptop to Orbiter and little else?

For instance, I run Orbiter on both my laptop and my desktop. Both use multicore processors. Orbiter doesn't need the power. But, add in Blender on both machines and you need a very different animal. Considering the latest benchmarks on Blender, it works best (and fastest) with a 32-core processor (AMD Threadripper 2990WX). This processor would be vastly overpowered to just run Orbiter and frankly my own configuration is somewhat less powerful than this (I'm a hobbyist, not a professional).

For what it is worth, friends.
