Other: I use math, but I do not believe in math.
Same happens with the moon.
We have theories, but I hardly find any reason to turn it into a belief.

That's why I like positivism, it does not require belief.

You need not ask the questions: what actually happened? what is really true?

you merely need to ask the question: which model yields the most accurate predictions? You are free to use any model (or models) that provide a prediction, if you get good predictions then keep using it until you get bad ones...then revise the model.

So I agree that these models are just a tool, like math, and belief itself is always inherently flawed

In light of that, the only answer that Ive come across that predicts a core-less moon made of bone-dry andesite/anorthosite rocks just like earth's mantle, is a glancing blow from a rogue planetoid. I would however love to hear some alternatives if they are out there.

Right behind you - don't look!
No, no, no by Dawkins! The Moon wasn't created, it evolved! You know, there were different populations of Moons once, and they had to adapt to the environment: some were decimated by moon-eating predators, some were driven to extinction because their food sources were depleted and in the end only one managed to adapt to survive. And there you've got it, right there in the sky, the best Moon nature could offer!

Hell if I know, we're not going to figure it out for sure until we go back and do something more than camp out on the surface for a couple days before running back home.

I believe the moon was made in a giant cheese factory somewhere in the vicinity of Jupiter. Unfortunately, Maggie Thatcher closed down the cheese factory in the 1980s and it has since been demolished.

The moon and Earth formed together at the same time.

I've seen some theories stating that it's the remaining of a major impact and that it was part of the planet. Could be, but that's what happened with all the natural satellites in the Univers?

but some evidence tells that moon dust is older than moon rocks, even older than the earth itself..i think it came elsewhere and was caught by earth's orbit...umm....so how's that?

I read somewhere that the Moon is a hoax.:(

I'll vote for glancing blow by planetoid.
