Biggest problems are Baikonur scenarios, Merlin Scenarios, Ascension base and these Russian ships. Also Multistage missing.

It means to wrap the long information up between [code][/code] tags, which puts the huge wedge of text into a scrollable box, making it much easier to read and doesn't take up so much space. You can see I have added them to your post to fix this, you can see where the tags are by editting the post.

Overall, it appears you are missing some meshes which are required to run Orbiter. What does the read me say? I am pretty sure that it will tell you to download some other addons for it to work.

Some of this appears to be missing dependancies. I would suggest finding and installing the Proton24 add-on, for example.

It looks to me as if you haven't read the install instructions for the add-ons you've installed. Therefore, you may have missed installing some other add-ons that are required. Pay close attention when downloading an add-on, sometimes dependencies are listed on the web page. Other times they will be listed in a "readme" or other text file that came with an add-on.

When installing add-on bases, it is often required that you edit a config file. For instance, installing Ascension Island requires modifying (IIRC) the Config/Earth/Base.cfg. This file can't just be replaced as it is referenced for ALL bases on Earth, not just AI. All textures used by every Earth base needs to be listed in this file. Ascension Island came with a "manual" that explained exactly what needed to be done - did you read it?

You should never install more than one add-on at a time. Install one, then test it to be sure it works correctly. Then move on to the next add-on.

This is a MAJOR problem in these addons: Some addons require custom config file/files editing by hand. OOF. What a job here. If the addon requires config editing it should be put in a SEPARATE readme file. Just a advice here

Well, it doesn't take much more than inserting or adding a line or two and then that is it. Sometimes it conflicts with other addons or etc so that is why you have to do it yourself. It is worth it though. Never be discouraged when it comes to this.

On page 4 it tells you exactly what to copy and paste. That means you did not read the read me. I quote...

Yeah right. Here is a good advice: Put those config lines in separate text file so you can copy/paste them in needed configs.

Most add-on bases do this, but often use a generic name for the file, such as "readme.txt" or "Install.txt". This is why you should install one add-on at a time - installing the second add-on may overwrite the instructions from the first add-on.

For the ones that don't, it's just a minor inconvenience. A couple minutes of typing isn't usually fatal.

After all of these bugs and griefs I don't stop to play Orbiter. I just need to install it again and read the read me this time. This game is just so great that stopping to play it just out of the question here.

Because this orbiter doesn't change registries. Can you have multiple installs of orbiter? Just in case if it crashes :facepalm::compbash2:

Of course you can have multiple entries. Just make sure it is .zip file download because the new Orbiter 2010 uses .MSI and I am sure that is an registry entry. Just keep seperate folders of them.

If you will be re-installing Orbiter (which I recommend - it will be quicker than figuring out all the issues) I suggest the following steps (don't forget to test after each step):

1: Install Orbiter Base.
2: Install Hi-rez planet textures if desired.
3: Install JSGME (an add-on manager), don't bother with a snapshot yet.
4: Place the Orbitsound installer inside the Orbiter root directory, but don't install.
5: Archive. Use Winrar or Winzip or 7-zip, etc to create a zip file you can use if you need to re-install - this allows you skip steps 1 - 4 if you do.
6: Install Orbitsound. Some people have had issues with Orbitsound if it's not installed with the installer (ie, copied from an archive)
7: All additional add-ons should be managed by JSGME. For bases (which require editing configs) always back up the config file before editing - if you need to remove the add-on you can revert back to the older config.
8: Periodically archive the MODS folder. Disable all add-ons, then make a zip copy of the MODS folder (this is where add-ons are installed to when using JSGME). This archive should also contain current (working) copies of any config files modified when installing bases. Also, any files generated by JSGME (snapshots, stored data, etc) should be included. I like to package using folders so i can unzip this into Orbiter's root directory and everything gets placed correctly.

This will save you a lot of grief - it's not uncommon for some add-ons to conflict with others, this allows easy removal or switching add-ons. In a worst case scenario where a new add-on totally messes up and you need to re-install, you can unzip the new "starter" archive, install Orbitsound, then install the last "known working" MODS archive.

Also, I agree that having to manually edit config files is a bit of a pain. There are two different tools available for base designers that will automate config updating, unfortunately they are rarely used.
