I just joined and I take the opportunity to say hello to everybody,
to all the people that enjoys realistic simulations like I do,
congratulations to those who raised this remarkable community
and to those that reached a high level of expertise about the simulator.

I started as a kid with Sublogic Flight Simulator 1 on a commodore 64,
went through the most classic simulators for PC,
MS space simulator, started early with Orbiter, and here we are!

I work as a software and firmware developer, and I also enjoy real-life flight.

So far I played with existing vessels and addons,
but I always dreamed to develop my own, to plan a realistic mission to Mars,
that's why I decided to join the forum: looks like I'll find much inspiration to share!
:hello:

Ahh, you and I cut our teeth on the same things, my friend. :) I remember very vividly getting very bored with a half hour straight of Pitfall for the Atari (and finding no end of the game in sight), the same SubLOGIC product on the same platform (the Commodore-64), trying to figure out the basics. My very first misguided 'aha!' moment I can remember in that simulator was achieving perfectly trimmed level flight and considering myself landed safely (even though I still had the aircraft at wide open throttle and was several hundreds of meters above the ground -- my vertical velocity was equalised and the attitude indicator was centered; that's all that mattered at the time!). The ignorance and exuberance of youth -- good times!

Welcome to the forum! :tiphat:

yes I remember! it was extremely difficult to trim, due to very low frame rate
and you had to carefully work on throttle to achieve level flight!
later on, another unforgettable task: fly between the twin towers!

fantasy ahead of the times!
