ESA’s global land cover map, which is ten times sharper than any previous global satellite map, is now available to the public online from the GlobCover website. It is the highest resolution land cover map that has been completely validated ever released.

It's odd to see that the Black, Azov and the Sea of Marmara seas are painted as lakes, while the Mediterranean sea is not.

upd: it's disputable whether the Caspian sea is a sea or a lake, but the above seas belong to the open Mediterranean basin.

Yeah, you are right. The Black Sea contains salt water AFAIR and should also appear black - even though the salinity is less than half of the oceans.
