Hi, I am a freshman of Orbiter. I apologize for my poor English.
I find there are main engine, hover engine and retro engine to help model go ahead, up and back. My problem is that are there any other engine to let the spacecraft go right, left and down? What are their relative shortcut keys?
Thanks a lot!

Well there is the Reaction* Control System (an array of small thrusters disposed around the vessell), which has 2 modes :

- Rotation (for pointing the ship at where you want)
- Translation (for "sliding" up, down, left, right, but also forward and back).

You can toggle these modes with the "divide" / key (numpad)**.

If you want to make an agile SF vessel that can "slide" fast, try to put high values to these RCS thrusters.

*edit : thanks DaveS, was really tired to do that one !
** edit : oh and that one was even worse ! The mere basics of Orbiter :facepalm:!!

RCS is really short for Reaction Control System, not Rotation Control System. Also RCS modes are toggled by the Divide key(/) on the NumPad, not the Multiply key(*).

There is the translation RCS. You hit the / key on the numpad until it says translation.

8= up
2= down
1= left
3= right
6= forward
9=back

Hope this helps.:cheers:

Be specific though and explain the linear modes and etc. Just so he doesn't get confused.

Now I'm thinking about it, I'm pretty sure someone translated Orbiter's manual in Chinese... I don't remember where I saw that, though :hmm:

edit : no, it's just the multistage2.dll manual

Rather than tell other people to explain it, why not just explain it yourself?

In any case, translation and rotation modes are detailed on page 4 of Doc\DeltaGlider.pdf as well as Section 15.2 (page 90) of Doc\Orbiter.pdf.
