This is a cool sight. Load this scenario which only has the default delta glider running Orbiter 2010-P1. I was playing around with low flight times back to Earth from Neptune. The scenario begins with Earth just ahead. Watch as it passes below you at an insane speed!

Try to do an aerocapture if you can.

Code:
BEGIN_DESC
~83,000 km/s velocity for this Earth flyby. Good luck stopping!

83 km/s? How long did it take to go to Neptune and back?

This was from a Neptune parking orbit to Earth. TEI to Earth encounter took 4.2 years.

Oh and naturally there was not enough fuel in the delta glider...I had to manually add more just to finish the TEI burn.

By chance, I saw a Mars flyby was possible after slinging past Earth in the above scenario. Trip from Earth to Mars took just barely over one month after the Earth sling!

It's about 0.028%. Remember the speed of light is about 300000 km/s

The scenario description says 83,000 km/s or 83,000,000 m/s ...

EDIT: But the scenario really contains 83 km/s

Code:
RVEL 24402.857 -142.166 78959.895

I haven't actually done the Earth return part of my Solar System Transport Vehicle (SSTV) #02 Mission #1 from Earth to Pluto and Back, but try to imagine what the delta V requirements would be for a 100 day Pluto to Earth flight.

I know the delta V for the Trans Pluto Injection (TPI) burn for a 100 Day Earth to Pluto flight is around 350km/s so the delta V for the Earth Orbit Insertion (EOI) burn once you get back is going to be HUMONGOUS. :)

Lucky for me the SSTV-02 has around 25Mm/s of delta V when fully fueled...

Well, that's what happens when you fall asleep during frameshift.
Next stop, sun. Better wake up now!
