Default Advanced Multipurpose Large Launch Vehicles

A proposed Post-Saturn launch vehicle designed to be partly-reusable and to have single stage to orbit capability.

While the launch location had not been decided, the attached map showing the planned NOVA launch pads to the north of LC-39 might make a good location for this.

Most of the report is available from the NTRS.

260 inch SRM?? That thing alone would make excellent 1st stage for unmanned payloads (I'd be afraid to put human onto it, let alone whole stack with multiple SRMs this size)

The 260inch SRM was originally intended as the replacement for the first stage of the Saturn Ib. Unlike the SRMs designed for the space shuttle the propellant was to be cast as a single unit, so no breaks and no 'O'-rings...

Astronautix.com has the best available rundown on these:

I was more concerned about vibrations tearing LV apart not O-ring failure.

Bumping this thread because I've located an even clearer image of the location of the three proposed NOVA launch pads, for anyone wishing to attempt this addon.

At the time this was being drawn up, the main manned vehicle was going to be the space shuttle, this thing was for the big payloads that could not be fitted into a shuttle bay.

Yeah, I didn't expect NASA to put humans on it.
