Lightbulb GPS Satellites...

While using the GPS function on my sister's new cellphone, I suddenly remember that one of the most used satellites today is missing from Orbiter (interestingly,
its Russian counterpart its Russian counterpart
is included in Thorton's Proton package). I would like to simulate launch missions using old and new satellites with the Delta II and IV rockets (and possibly converted Atlas missiles too for the very first ones in the 1980s), so I would like to make a request in building them. Given that not that many functions would be needed, something based on the spacecraft3 platform would be enough to satisfy my needs.

If possible, maybe our European friends can build the Galileo constellation satellites too.

Here are what the satellites look like:

GPS block I (launched 1978 - 1985)

GPS block II/IIA (launched 1989 - 1997)

GPS block IIR/IIR-M (launched 1997 - 2009)

GPS block IIF (launched 2010 - present)

GPS block III (first launch NET 2014)

GIOVE A (test satellite for Galileo, launched 2005)

GIOVE B (test satellite for Galileo, launched 2008)

Galileo IOV (launches in 2011 and 2012)

Galileo operational satellites (first launch NET 2013)

Hopefully someone can take up this project.

Hehe the first ones sure have an "agressive" look with those protruding superstructures. Look like orbital cannons.

By the way this is an excellent idea, I think that Orbiter needs much more payloads to send in orbit. And building a GPS network is quite an interesting challenge.

The antennas had been needed to look that way so the signal properties on the ground are suitable. Modern GPS satellites can use smaller COTS parts from mobile satellite phone systems.
