Thanks! I knew I was missing something...

I also had to add DIR Phobos/Base to Phobos.cfg

Just noticed a glaring hole in the plan. If you use the current scenario, Mars is already near opposition, and it is extremely difficult to get there without using all of your fuel (when I got there I didn't have enough Dv left for the Phobos alignment burn)

Instead, try this MJD a few months in advance, and a departure in early May:
Code:
BEGIN_ENVIRONMENT
  System Sol
  Date MJD 58230.1829982009
END_ENVIRONMENT

It's easier to change the date, but the Arrow can handle the original one easily.
With the DGIV docked with it, it has aprox 90km/s of dV. That's more than 2x the velocity needed to escape the solar system! (from Earth)

With the first starting date you can arrive on Phobos with about half the fuel still left.

DV required for Ejection: about 23 km/s - arrivall aprox 120 days later.

Orbit insertion and phobos rendezvous dV required: about 22 km/s

Also if we stayed on Mars for a couple of months the fuel left on the Arrow make the return trip and still have spare.

If you want to be on the safe side, pack up some cargo fuel to go with.

Anyways, the date is changed now, but even with the original one there would be no problems.

Actually, I haven't changed the date in anything; I just posted it there. For simplicity, I'll just leave it as is and ignore that new date.

I guess my piloting ability is just that bad.

Maybe it was because I did the plane-change burn way too late, and nearly overshot Mars...
To do: LEARN TRANSX ALREADY!!

Just to avoid some potential confusion later on, I'd like to clarify that I have been moved to mission 7, due to the possibility that I would not be able to fly mission 1 because of Orbiter problems. I have since fixed the problem, but FSXHD is still flying mission 1 in my stead. That's why you'll see him posting the scenario later on. Just a heads up.

---------- Post added at 09:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:44 PM ----------

Quick question, I was checking out mission 1, and found that the launch heading of 26.5 makes me end up with a RInc of 35.6. I was just wondering if there is a more efficient heading to launch at.

Try 64 degrees, it should get you within 1 degree Rinc of Prometheus.
Also launch when it's about 1900 - 1800 km "behind" you. This way you'll be really close to it when you reach orbital speed.

Yea I find that that is much better, but the description of the scenario shows 26.5 degrees. Just wondering.

The description in the scenario says your Equatorial Inclanation, not your launch heading.

Ok, mission 1 complete. After a short flight to Prometheus, Galileo is docked in the bay of the Arrow, and all crew members that needed to be transferred were transferred and are currently aboard Prometheus. Mission 2 is ready to be executed.

Wow! I just finished (succesfully) a... "the whole thing" scenario.
"Epic" is the word that comes to mind...
All the missions, from start to finish in one scenario, even that 7.5 mission i suggested (Azure/Phobos to Mars, that doesn't work on O-2010).

I owe Izack a very
Thanks for making this happen man. It IS a great ride.

I'll not go into details... (don't want to spoil it for the pilots), but i must admit... there were a few very challenging missions.

Good luck to all the pilots and may the be with you.
Your success is what makes the next mission a little bit easier.

EDIT: Nice work FSXHD! Good start!

Very nice! You flew it better than I probably could have. But not by much, don't get any ideas .

Good going! We've got a long journey ahead of us.
Well...not that long...

Also, new wallpapers for OFMM lite. They come in 1440x640, 1280x640, and 1024x640, so they should fit for everyone if set to "center."

It's mostly just a screenshot, but it looks a little better thanks to forcing antialiasing. I'll come up with something more artistic soon, I hope.

Aw crap, I missed it.

Good job FSXHD! Right on target!

Alex, when you're finished I need to see the scenario; there's something I've got to add for the third mission.

One thing: DGIV skin? So far, I've been using the Mars Space Authority skin, just for the Martianness of it. Erinome is another good one.

Lastly, here are the 'bases' that need to be landed at. Tharsis Base is halfway between Pavonis Mons and Arsia Mons, and Phobos base is right where Dgatsoulis suggested.

Thanks, by the way, for the feedback. I thought it was sort of generic...

Cool, bases!

DGIV skin? Was that pointed at me?
I was thinking of that. I'll do it (maybe)! I might also skin the return XR2, since we are doing this more than once. How much time do I have?

Also, @FSXHD: Why did you have 50% SCRAM fuel left? That ain't right...
BTW, please name scenarios as "OFMM lite G1" to avoid confusion, since we are doing it more than once. Unless someone superior to me* says otherwise.

cheerz
