Default Orbiter Beta Crashes upon starting any default scenario.

Latest/greatest SVN checkout of Orbiter Beta.
I'm attempting to follow the steps laid out on the NASSP 8 Installation site.

0) Microsoft VS C++ 2017 Redistributable (x86) Package installed. <Check>
1) Installed Orbiter Beta <Check> It's installed to my D:, but that shouldn't matter, unless it does.
2) Installed Plantary Textures for the Earth and Moon. Both in <orbiter dir>/Textures/<Earth or Moon>/Archive/ <Check>
3) Installed D3DClient. (D3D9ClientR3.7-forOrbiter2016(r1093)) <Check>
4) Recent directx is installed. <Check>
5) I have activated the D3D client in Modules.

At this point, I attempted to run the 2016 "Welcome To Orbiter" scenario to see if it would load.
It does not.

You probably forgot to copy the planetary textures (the "regular" ones) from Orbiter 2016. The best procedure is to use Orbiter 2016 as a base for Orbiter Beta, which would then overwrite the needed files.

Hrm. Nope.
But maybe I'm doing this wrong.
I cp'd my standard Orbiter 2016 files from the .zip to a directory.
I did an SVN checkout in another directory.
I cp'd the files from the checkout and dropped them in the Orbiter 2016 dir and overwrote everything.
Then added the D3D client.

Am I missing a step?

Before copying the Orbiter Beta files, could you check that Orbiter 2016 works?
Also, beware of what D3D9 versions you are using, as there are versions just for Orbiter 2016 and versions just for Orbiter Beta.

The NASSP 8 site doesn't make it quite as clear.

This version is for Orbiter 2016 not the Beta, so that might indeed be your issue.

Apparently I was not following it very well.

That fixed it. I'm up and running now.
Toying with Orbiter used to be so easy...
