Besides, if you're going to build a new Eagle, it really needs to look like this:

No competition.
F-15 (Eagle) is far better than F-16 (Falcon).

But "Raptor" is far better than both.

But the others are used for more than just air shows....

If we should ever name it after the most successful aircraft in modern history, it would become a "Thunderbolt III"...

Heck yes! Put a shark mouth on it too. Might as well make it look cool while we're at it.

Of course!

And again find a reason to paint ACME on spaceflight hardware ...

Naturally the rocket would be shipped in a large, wooden crate, and some assembly would be required...

Why... Come to think of it... Our friend Urwumpe here would indeed be one of the biggest customers!

If I recall correctly, the F-15 holds the record of over 100 air-to-air victories in real war operations, with no losses.

There's already a Phantom II; Oddly enough, it was the famous F-4 Phantom. The earlier
FH Phantom FH Phantom
isn't really remembered, which explains why "Phantom" conjures up only one airplane in most people's minds.

Yes - and the Raptor is still waiting for its war.

But still, nothing beats the Warthog in the discipline of ordnance payload delivered, number of sorties flown and availability. (What you also expect of a launch vehicle)

also, no offense intended here, GalaxyOne is just a laughable option IMHO.
@Pipcard: Somehow, Galaxy I does seem quite a bit better.
My personal reason for disliking GalaxyOne: as you said... LauncherOne, SpaceshipOne, XboxOne

Anyone have info on what it's actually supposed to look like?

GalaxyOne sounds like a new cellphone from a Chinese knock-off company. "Eagle" and "Freedom" are both ridiculously US-nationalistic, "Freedom" maybe more so, so I voted for it, because I want to see the US launch Freedom in the form of a gigantic phallic metal rod penetrating the atmosphere.

To steer the topic more towards the rocket design, here's a good guess of what the rocket will be: http://www.spacelaunchreport.com/nglv.html

Full info is expected to be announced in mid-April.

Compare with this proposed Atlas V evolution plan:

It seems that the only difference is that the stages (except for the Centaur in the NGLS-M) have been widened to be the same width as the 5-meter fairing.
