Default New Titan map

A new Titan map has been released:

Click on "downloads" and you have a 11520x5760 TIF
Would look great in Orbiter

"Abstract:

SeriesInformation:
Original maps: VIMS map published by S. Le Mouélic in Icarus 2019 (doi: 10.1016/j.icarus.2018.09.017) with R band at 1.59/1.27 μm, G band at 2.03/1.27 μm, B band: 1.27/1.08 μm. Seamless ISS global map by Cassini Imaging Team published in Dec. 2018 (Photo Journal: PIA-22770) with B/W: albedo map at 938 nm."

I had a quick look at it. At first glance, it seems very - colourful

This appears to be a mosaic that combines a panchromatic Cassini ISS band with multispectral infrared information from VIMS. Note that the latest highres Titan textures are already based on the Cassini ISS mosaic.

According to the description, the RGB colours represent the following bands:

Quote:
R band at 1.59/1.27 μm, G band at 2.03/1.27 μm, B band: 1.27/1.08 μm
So this is not a true-colour mosaic, but a multispectral infrared image that maps three short-wavelength infrared bands to RGB colours. Would be hard to get visible wavelengths though the cloud cover in any case.

No reason not to create an Orbiter texture from it, as long as you know what you get.

Indeed. But I believe this version uses a updated ISS mosaic.
Perhaps a desaturated version would be better for our purposes.
