Yup, of course. I'm waiting all the time to get some real wingmen. :D

That's cool. When would be an opportunity for a flight?

How about this evening?

Awesome flight with Richy where, despite some technical issues on my end, we managed to complete the "Shooting Gallery" mission!

Here after the landing, noticig Richy's blown left tire:

Wouldn't dare try it; I would get horribly addicted and spend loads of time on it that I could ill afford. Several months ago I ventured out of Debian and back into Win 7 only to try out War Thunder (because it was a free-bee), and did get hooked, larking around in the Spitfire Mk II and A5M, which were the two aircraft I was aiming at getting to. I had to bin my account in order to stay away. DCS looks great, though.

Though it is a bit off topic, has anyone tried Rise of Flight? And as I am a WWI naval history fan, Jutland and associated? At one stage, I tried the demo of Steam and Iron. Functional (though not multi-player), it reminded me a bit of old Harpoon in layout, but both it and Jutland are a bit pricey.

Years ago, on the Amiga, a friend and I knocked up a null modem cable and played Falcon head to head. After many threats of "prepare to eat lead", we initiated hostilities in the first encounter that lasted exactly 15 seconds, ending with a cannon burst landed neatly in his cockpit. It was very exciting, I recall, to go up against a non AI opponent.

I still have to update DCS, and that will take some time so I didn't make it today.

I'd really love to do it, nice that you had some fun today!

From 20th to the 29th September, there is going to be an Autumn sale at the DCS shop, with about 60% off... maybe a reason for some to take a look. (I don't want to copy the announced prices here... would be too much advertisement for my taste)

Aye, I'm thinking of maybe picking one or two of them up if any of my paypal transfers ever go through.

Ha, been waiting for that! I'll most likely pick up the Mi-8.

Same here... I don't have UH-1 and Mi-8 - and the Mi-8 is the way cooler helicopter IMHO... with some modding, it would maybe be possible to simulate a Soyuz capsule retrieval in DCS....

None - all modules are independent and you can have those vehicles as non-pilotable vehicles anyway via the free-to-play DCS:World. You can choose what you like to fly, and don't need to buy lots of planes, when you only want to fly one.

But I recommend getting DCS:Combined Arms since it extends the basic simulation a lot.

Money-wise, it depends on what you want to fly. Better wait for tomorrow, then the prices will drop radically. Maybe take the time to test DCS:World, if you didn't yet, so you know if the performance suits and the simulation is what you like.

But keep in mind, the A-10C, the Ka-50, the UH-1H and the Mi-8 have a fully clickable cockpit and are "uber-realistic" also avionicswise, while the A-10A and the Su-25 (both the one included in DCS World and the other variant that can be purchased) have a simpliefied avionic and no clickable pit, but still feature an advanced flight module.

Still, even if the free Su-25T is not equipped with a clickable cockpit, the operations with the plane are realistic - you have a lot of work ahead of you, for just shooting one missile and hit something.
