I would like to see TKS in Orbiter, because it adds to the options for space station manned/ummanned cargo and resupply.

EDIT: Yes I know there have been earlier threads, I would like an updated version for 2010-P1 not 2003.
I've seen this craft before in a book. As soon as I can finish some things, I might start it.

Heh, yes indeed it's curious to note that a machine designed entirely within the soviet censorship apparatus now has much better documentation than a western commercial aerospace venture.

A TKS would certainly be a lovely and capable addition to the station roster, especially with Thorton's excellent Proton already available for it.

I,m sure I read this somewhere, the main body, or part of it, eventually became the Zara module.

You mean Zarya? Yes, It was a descendant of TKS Spacecraft:

Yes, Zarya (along with Kvant-2, Priroda and a few other Mir modules) was based on the FGB block of the TKS.

Also Salyut-6 and Salyut-7 each were visited by a full TKS with the Merkur capsule, albeit not in a crewed configuration and without the full LAS the vehicle is often depicted with. The Merkur of Cosmos 1267 (attached to Salyut 6) did in fact make a re-entry.

Furthermore
Excalibur Almaz Excalibur Almaz
seems to be using the Merkur capsules for their project, though it is unclear whether any derivative of the FGB hardware will be used.

I think that the Merkur capsule would be an interesting addon. I've seen photos / drawings of the control panel for the manned version.

As for the FGB we already have it on the MIR addon. If I'm not mistaken there's a scenario that launches the Kvant-1 module, complete with the FGB.

While the Kvant tug is a TKS derivative, it does not feature a rendezvous or docking system system (these being on the Kvant itself) nor is it shaped for the Merkur capsule, instead tapering into a closed hull at this section. One would still have to modify the mesh, though it remains the closest to a "genericized" FGB that has been published.

This image from Astronautix should be illustrative

The top image is the "Standard" TKS-VA. Below it is the Kvant attached to its TKS tug.

I had done a dirty anim8or mesh of the Merkur capsule once. But I am a coder, not a mesher, and so it was pretty futile for me to keep on fighting my lack of talent.

Wait, I try to upload some images.

I've considered making an Excalibur-Almaz RRV type spacecraft. Probably well outside of my skills to do well, though.

Could I use that mesh?

Sure, if you have no problem if I license it CC BY-SA. (Creative Commons; Attributed, Share-alike)

I don't want to get forgotten in the pedigree of this mesh, and I don't want it to get claimed completely by somebody. But I have no problem if you make money with it, because I wouldn't even have tried making money with it.
