This morning on a (satyric) radio program, they even interviewed a psychologist, who said that this is good, expecially for the young kids who think Azzurri are gods.

I just add that last Sunday, in a minor football match, one of the players, took off his shirt as usual after scoring a goal, showing an underlying shirt with the War flag of the Italian Social Republic, meanwhile making a Roman salute.
And the worst has yet to come: his team was playing against Marzabotto team.
During WWII that town became dramatically "famous" for the Marzabotto massacre, committed by the SS.

Talk about karma.
So, if this is the level our football has descended at, I say we deserve not being in the World Championship.

It's just a game, and half of it is pure chance

Really sad to see politics (if we can call it that) mixed.
Can't understand the appeal of the Nazis, besides the uniforms and cool tech.
If it didn't work the first time, why should it work now?

Well, with Italy out, one less top team to worry about!
I have some hopes for Portugal, but realistically Germany always has the best chance to win any competition :

Well - no. I disagree there. A bit of luck is important, but if you are not playing good enough, luck won't be enough. If you have a good 35% chance to score on each chance, having more chances than others is important and if you wait for a lucky error of your opponent to have a chance, you will lose or have a draw. More important is the actual performance on that day I think. Then you can even enforce errors of your opponent.

On a bad day for Madrid, even Wolfsburg can defeat Real Madrid. On a good day for Madrid...well, let us not talk about it.

Could get interesting... It includes Chile as well then. For the UEFA qualification, you could still blame the strange qualification mode here for why Serbia takes part and Italy stays at home... but not for South America, where all teams played against each other in a league.

Funny: The USA did not qualify as well, but PANAMA did.

Well, my two cents there: A good keeper can save the day, but generally, even a mediocre keeper is good enough if your defense is doing its job. And the defense isn't really the US strength, it never really was. And especially not if your coach is named Klinsmann.

You can't always have a Manuel Neuer, who can play everywhere except the opposite goal...
