I didn't think the original alignment (between the two IDA targets) was satisfactory, anyway. I'm open to a better suggestion :-)
But it's easy to move the lidar, so if anyone has a preference one way or the other, let me know.

P.S. Thanks for the Go Searcher infos!

Good evening Brian

I think the target area of the lazer should be here
in yellow

As Brian said, the laser is fictitious. Docking MFD works better. Or you can look out the hatch. Like I said, an outside camera view, (like the one I put on the Shenzou 9) would be great.

Hi Don,
not quite sure what you mean - an external camera viewpoint where the docking camera should be? In line with the IDA targets (where the lidar is)?
Shouldn't be a problem.

If you could add another camera to N key fray.

Docking Camera = 0.807 0.392 3.017

Might work

Hi Don,
great, that lines up nicely with the "lower-right" target on IDA, so I've added that as an extra "Docking Cam" viewpoint, along with a viewpoint on the centre-line(for folks who don't use IDA). Tried to make a simple "Soyuz" type display overlay for it.

Only slight snag is the IDA disappears when you get right up close (mesh "clipping").

The Lidar now lines up with the "upper-left" IDA target.

Note: This assumes you use Donamy's parameters for IDA docking ports, above.

Also, I have changed the Auto- De-Orbit button from Y to U, for keyboard compatibility.

And re-instated the Size parameter increase when chutes deployed (otherwise you don't get any shadow on the ground till almost landed).

Any further suggestions? (before I do another update on OH).

Thanks,
BrianJ

Looks great Brian. You can disable clipping in Dx9 and it won't disappear.

Thank you.

Update v.181021 on OH:
Changed "Auto-Deorbit" button to [U].
Added "Docking Cam" viewpoints in VirtualCockpit mode.
Re-instated size parameter increase on chute deployment.

BrianJ

Thanks for reminding me, pappy2.
That's a nice 3-axis view in that pic.
I should be able to get going on this soon :-)

Hi Barry,
you need the the "IDA pre-r.ZIP" file from the first post in this thread:
https://www.orbiter-forum.com/showth...ocking+Adapter

Install it, then edit the Config/Vessels/IDA.cfg to use Donamy's Docking Parameters:
Code:
; === Docking ports ===
BEGIN_DOCKLIST
0 0.05 0.32 0 0 1 0 1 0 ;CCVehicle
0 0 -0.38 0 0 -1 0 -1 0 ;PMA
 END_DOCKLIST
Then you need to add it into your scenario, here's a scenario with Dragon approaching ISS, with IDA already docked to the ISS:
Code:
BEGIN_DESC
Ready to dock to ISS.
END_DESC

BEGIN_ENVIRONMENT
  System Sol
  Date MJD 58361.1505666301

thanks Brian I'll give that a go. I'm not sure but are you the one who did the EVA guys in the ISS and do they have helmet lights ?

---------- Post added at 12:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 PM ----------

Once the IDA is installed can other vehicles like the shuttle still dock to the ISS ?

I haven't tried but I'm pretty sure it's compatible, yes.
