There are good diagrams and coordinates on diagram 14.1-2 of that massive diagram collection you posted awhile back.
Well, the EVA slidewire was never really a "always flown equipment". The only post-Columbia mission to fly it was STS-125/HST SM4.

STS-1 for example flew a design that was mounted to pedestals that it turn was mounted to the PLB sill longerons much like the MPMs. STS-2 had no slidewires at all. STS-3 flew the STS-1 but only on the starboard side. STS-5 was the opposite from STS-3. It seems like STS-7 was the first mission to feature the final design that was mounted to the PLBDs. But following STS-107 they were gone except for that one mission.

We can always make it customizable via mission file parameter. We just need to catalog the flown configurations (ATM it looks like 4: "early" port*, starboard, both, and "final" version), and then it becomes similar to the the tail or the bridgerails: show the mesh groups you need, and hide the rest.
Looking at some pictures, the "early" design seems static so that should be easy on all fronts. The "final" version needs more detail and math.

*) I haven't seen this one

I just committed the new PLBD animations (and a whole bunch of other stuff). The push rod isn't moving all the way up as it should because there are some variables I can't nail done: position of the motor, length of the arm from it to the push rod and range of rotation of the motor. Plus there could be some errors in the points I measured on the mechanisms in sight, and/or errors in them.

No I can't... there are way too many vertices in there for me to edit by hand. This one will have wait until the vc is split up.

Hi Guys,

I just found your addon via a friend's recommendation.

We are both very impressed how close to the real Nasa Procedures SSU performs !

Do you have any idea on where in the "timeline" / priority list, finishing the docking controls is ?

It seems that (at least) the power on switches are not working, which is I assume preventing the LED "distance indicators" from responding to RCS inputs.

I might even be able to help the cause, I've done some "recreational" programming. I'll have to look at the code and see if I can comprehend any of it

Also a general comment, though there may not be any solution, depending on the limitations of the Oribiter API : I find the "ctr-arrow" + move-camera-zoom in to be quite frustrating at times, to be able to "manouver" the camera into position to make a mouse click possible on the given switch(es).

It would be nice if a "2d panel" popup was possible for some of the more difficult to access "corners". Or if anyone has any suggestions on my "VC navigation technique", that would be great

Most "power" switches aren't working because we don't have power systems...
What do you mean with LED "distance indicators"? You mean the radar output on panel A2? If so, that should work once you power up the KU antenna on panel A1U.

Try the "AltGr + arrow" to lean from the current position. IMO that gives adequate reach to all the working panels.

No timelines or so, we are free-time developers after all.

About docking, it is due to some work after the Orbiter 2016 transition.

Can you tell more specific which indicator you mean, maybe by the SCOM labels?

Well, GLS as already formulated some improvements on the VC API, that I'll work in to get better click area definitions. I just need to get back to Wolfsburg with my notebook and install VC++ again.

About helping in the programming, I don't want to discourage you there, but the source-code documentation and formatting quality is pretty low for a open-source project right now. It could be a tough start.

There are two LED readouts at the "Aft Workstation", above and to the right of the "joystick", labelled "Range / Elevation", and "Range Rate / Azimuth"

They are both showing 000.0.

The power switch on A1U shows on.

I was attempting to get the "Docking System Power" Sys1 /Sys2 displays to change to On (from) Off, using Mn a Mn B switches located below the indicators.

Also the "Shuttle Crew Operations Manual" OI-33 on page 678 (2.19.6) mentions depressing the "APDS CIRC PROT OFF" pushbutton.

I don't see that button. Did I miss it, or is that step not modelled / neccesary?

*Also a note*, (maybe?) the addon is following the real Nasa Orbiter / manual exactly but it seems that some panels are not labelled, either in the SIM or the Crew Ops Manual. E.g. panel A6U "Docking System Power". I DID manage to find it, using pdf search, but it might be helpful if all panels were labelled in the sim.

Yep, that's the radar stuff. It will only display distance when the radar is locked on to something. To search a close-by vessel, on panel A1U select "AUTO TRACK" and then SEARCH. This will put the KU antenna searching for vessels, and if it finds on it should start tracking and panel A2 will come to life. Try this in the "ISS Radar Test" scenario.

This one should be on the Russian half of the ODS panel.

It's designation is A7L APDS CONTROL PANEL. The APDS is just for show right now and doesn't serve any real use as Orbiter has some major issues with functional docking mechanisms. I have put in a request for these limitations to be removed: http://www.orbiter-forum.com/project.php?issueid=1204

Well the whole A1U panel is actually "greyed out", with nothing "clickable"

This is from starting from the testing scenario folder "Rendezvous test scenario".

As a "stab in the dark" guess, , I tried adding "SEARCH" on under @PANEL A1U for the Endeavour:SpaceShuttleUltra in the STS-126 docking with ISS scenario.

I don't have any scenarios named "ISS Radar Test"

I'll download the latest version and try again.

Are you sure you're using SSU V4.0? Any earlier version doesn't have the Ku band system.

---------- Post added at 07:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:43 PM ----------

My fault, it seems like the ISS Radar Test isn't included in the SSU V4.0 release package. Here it is. Just copy&paste it into NotePad and save it as ISS Radar Test.scn in the Space Shuttle Ultra\Testing scenarios\ subfolder.
