Challenge Lunar Lander and Direct Landing challenges

I was just searching Youtube for some new orbiter videos to see if there is anything new which I have not done in many months and I see David Courtney has been doing some new videos and I see some people have already noticed with this thread, that is awesome, I watched all of his Orbiter 2010...

    General Question Blocky Clouds?

Clouds look blocky/blurry in 2016 when looking at them directly in LEO. When the clouds are over land they don't seem as blocky as over the oceans. The high resolution pack contains contains a tree file the size of 300MB so it is fairly large itself for clouds.

Problem 2D Cockpit display getting cut off

Yeah I agree, XR1 2D panel doesn't take up 1/2 the screen in widescreen which was my main issue with the DG. XR1 also has some easy to use useful functions in it's flight computer such as rate of descent, I think those are also in the DG or can be used by downloading a MFD.

    Question Virtual Reality

I bought a new phone along with the Google Daydream. I would like to make some VR or 3D videos with Orbiter but unfortunately there are not any options to enable stereo view, cylindrical view or increasing FoV past 90. I did make a video recording of cylindrical view orbiting the Moon in Space...

General Question Does Earth spin & Orbiter simulate atmospheric flight?

I think the OP should start playing with orbiter, if he/she sticks with it for a few months learning and having a lot of fun, they will realise the Earth is not flat and the Moon landings did happen. Someone who is a moon hoaxer, if they learn NASSP or even ASMO and do a few missions will see...

Software How do I get Orbiter 2016 to run in windows xp?

Hmmm, for the blank MFD's go to Extra->Instruments and panels, then change Enforce pow2 MFD display texture sizes.

    Updates LRO/LCROSS News and Updates

I wonder how long an Earth satellite would last in retrograde orbit around Earth with all the crap flying around there.

    Orbiter Screenshot Thread

That is really neat jalexb88, I installed 2015-492 last week and started through the pre launch checklist without using button hints, I only lasted an hour before I quick saved and went for a walk

    Hardware Ideal Orbiter media installation

I've been considering moving my Orbiter 16 install from my hard drive to a SSD, I was wondering if 128GB USB3 would be an ideal cheaper alternative. I think with Orbiter 16 it is not so much the raw transfer speed rather the seek time. Has anyone tried this? I want to reduce texture/elevation...

    Hardware New PC (again !)

CISCO Packet Tracker doesn't use many resources, I used to run it on very old machines just a few years ago fine. They probably were mixing packet tracer up with GNS3 which emulates the actual Cisco router roms and you need a powerful computer for that.

    News Robochef coming soon.

Apparently bread machines are a type of robot chef, there are recipes for them to make cheesecakes, scrambled eggs, pasta dishes, Casseroles, soups and cooking other simple foods. A person certainly could use a bread machine exclusively for cooking...

    Question TransX or IMFD

Learn TransX first as it comes with Orbiter, it is standard. I've never needed to use IMFD, I did learn to use it for about a week then I didn't use Orbiter for awhile and when I came back, I couldn't understand it again. Personal bias here sorry however I will admit LunarTransferMFD is really...

Richard Hatch "Apollo" of BSG, RIP

He was good in BSG, he was politically scary, he promised everyone everything saying they all should be living much better and the Cylon threat not real when in reality they were already at 100 to 1 odds for survival and that is if they could stick together with this clown trying to tip the table.

Question Mars One? Has anyone gave a donation?

Artlav I agree bonds over the long term are a poor investment choice. It really is a ponzi scheme because many governments now a days keep increasing their debt levels and the current bond holders are paid by the government going further into debt by issuing new bonds. I read an interesting...
