It sounds like you have a bug that overwrites memory in the heap. What I would do is enable the Visual Studio heap debugging for debug builds and run your code in the Visual Studio debugger to find memory overwrite bugs. Check out this post for details. :)

Yes, the Specific Impulse values listed in the comments in the XR2 configuration file are correct. As for the SCRAM engines, the logic is very similar to the default DG-S SCRAM engine logic; i.e., the thrust and ISP values vary constantly based on atmospheric density and the vessel's velocity.

Good point about the center-of-gravity shifting -- it is probably that which makes the biggest difference here. I will add a TODO for the next XR patch releases -- it should be easy enough to drain the highest-numbered tanks first. Can't promise when the next patch release will arrive, though. :)

BTW the XR Attitude Hold autopilot uses elevator trim and/or RCS jets to maintain attitude, so that is what is helping to rotate the ship during takeoff. As for XR cargo bay slots, it is by design that cargo slot numbers start with the lowest numbers on the bottom of the bay (1 2, 3, etc.)...

You may be able to do it if you reenter in multiple orbits, rather than all at once. You only need to set your periapsis on the initial Earth entry low enough to be captured by Earth's gravity (maybe 60 km or even higher?). Then you can set your apoapsis a bit lower on the next orbit to bleed...

@JohnSpeed, no you cannot change XR crew members in 2016 until UMMu support is available for Orbiter 2016.

This is expected behavior until UMMu for Orbiter 2016 is released and I release new XR versions that use it; crew complement is handled by UMMu, and UMMu support had to be removed from the Orbiter 2016-compatible XR versions due to UMMu's incompatibility with Orbiter 2016.
