Terrain on moon - Brighton Beach

Hi, I was trying a landing on Pad-1 Brighton Beach, with my DGIV-3.
Orbiter version 160828 with Hi-Res textures.

Approaching the base, my DG broke gears and hover door at hundreds meters of altitude. It seems there is an invisible ground point where the lander impact, this invisible ground layer is also indicated by the countdown voice from orbiter sound.
Passing this "invisible plane" at a very low vertical speed (1ms/s) I can continue my landing manouver to Brighton Beach, but when landed the DG is unable to stay still.
Sorry for my english.

Ask if you need more details.

Thanks, Andrea.

This is not really a bug. The DG-IV has not been updated to work with the new terrain features of Orbiter 2016 so expect lots of failures.

Can you post a scenario to reproduce it?
Neither Orbiter Sound nor the DGIV have been updated though.

Hi there, I've got to report a somewhat different behavior, but same Orbiter version, same place (BrightonBeach) and maybe same cause/bug. The reproducible scenario is the standard BrightonBeach.scn. There you speed-up the DG on ground to a TAS of some 50-60, pull brake on either left or right side and watch the DG skid, turn-over, flip, spiral and what-not. Looks like gravity, mass and momentum run haywire same time.
Gonna do some landings and sub-orbits next to see if I find more weirdnesses.

Happy orbiting ...

Hi there,
crashing thru that ominous "Orbiter-Sound-Ground-Level" at various VSpeeds doesn't affect the standard DG (or DG-NT) [don't know about the DGIV as a rookie, but it's an add-on and Orbiter-Sounds 4.0 behaves strangely since some Orbiter 2015-beta version, too, so it's (as Ripley said) supposedly an add-on update issue].
The by me mentioned strange DG behavior on moon I can confirm for different locations/bases. It doesn't occur on Earth, but (different in extend) also on Mars. {Could be some LOG/EXP calculation error in the new core collision routines where g<>1; by the looks, for it's dampened and settles after a while, grounding, way afar from where momentum should have taken it to.}
Maybe someone could confirm that sort of strange behavior on other planets/moons; or not (for I'm running Orbiter in wine I might be mislead).
Anyway, despite being not too realistic the effect is lovely to watch, like a strange, low-gravity space ballet; somehow...

Happy orbiting (O)

I've tried to land with the stock DG and there is no bug. It looks like, as you said, it's a DGIV-3 and OrbiterSound problem. Update is needed, so i'll wait for the great DanSteph.

For more information, OrbiterSound indicates me with the altitude countdown, that the ground is calculated at circa 2544 mt of altitude. At that point also the gear touchdown sound is played, but the DG (with gear up) continued it's trip to Brighton Beach without issues.
