Out of place Earth texture patches
There's apparently two patches of the texture for Earth that are out of place

There's apparently two patches of the hi-res Earth texture that are out of place, around the southern coast of the Ivory Coast. I've included a screenshot of these two patches as well as a grab of the Map dialog to show the position.

Revision affected, well I guess all of the 2016 edition ones?

I can see quite a bit of cloud contamination in most of the Landsat scenes of the screenshot (as is quite common in rainforest areas), but it's not obvious to me which of the "patches" you are referring to as out of place. Are those patches Orbiter tiles or Landsat scenes?

They're stock Orbiter 2016 Hi-res Earth textures downloaded from here: http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/mirro...ex_mirror.html

I've updated the screenshot to show the two patches.

Edit:
Just so there's no confusion here, I've turned Cloud layers off so there's not interference. And the more exact location is the south-western coastal border between the Ivory Coast and Liberia. Coordinates should be in neighborhood of latitude 5.64, longitude -7.36. Maybe there's no mal-placed patches/tiles and I'm just getting tricked by the obviously cut-off could remnants.

Yes, I am afraid that is the case here. I remember trawling through several years worth of Landsat7 ETM data to find the least contaminated scenes, but in specific regions it's near impossible to find clean images.

Maybe if you look though the Landsat8 data you can find better images in these areas to stitch together a new mosaic. The good thing about tropical regions is that there is little seasonal change, so you are not restricted by needing to match seasons across scenes. In higher latitudes it is important to pick scenes at consistent seasons to avoid incompatibilities across scene edges.

I am not sure I want to go through all this again, so I hope somebody else will do the next Earth tileset. I remember spending endless months downloading terabytes of data and numbercrunching them into a seamless mosaic. So if anybody else wants to give it a go, be my guest!
