Thanks to Marg for textures on the Spacelab.
Here is STS 40 spacelab with new texture on the front and gas bridge

Shuttles with Spacelab often flew in tail down (to Earth) and black bottom (-Y) in direction of velocity. Somewhere was mentioned it was not the best in terms of debris impact safety.

GP, first a huge thanks for what's clearly a monumental effort.

Other than a few forum reads, I've been away from Orbiter for a good number of years. Have a real interest to recreate STS-1 and STS-2; still remember those days as a teenager, before unpainted ETs ... :)

A couple questions - and I read the manual, so I don't think this was addressed.

1) Will this addon enable joystick control for orbital maneuvering and later on reentry, atmospheric maneuvering?
2) Can SRB and ET be triggered indpendantly of a normal mission profile, time-wise? Meaning, simulating RTLS / TAL type scenarios?

Apologies if this is spelled out - having some memory trouble following a bad rear-end car crash / concussion, so recollection is not always dead on.

Again, big thanks for the current and underway work you and the team are doing on this.

Thanks.
1) Will this addon enable joystick control for orbital maneuvering and later on reentry, atmospheric maneuvering? I think it is. Since it uses regular Orbiter thrusters,.....

2) Can SRB and ET be triggered indpendantly of a normal mission profile, time-wise? Meaning, simulating RTLS / TAL type scenarios? I would say yes. BUt not sure what you asking. For launches we are using MS2015. The ET can be separated by key if nned be. But the guidance determines the rest. I think the srb seperate when out of fuel?
I could be wrong though.

-30=orbit(346,352,57,-1) -6=engine(0,100,6) 3=engine(100,104.5,1.00) 30=engine(104.5,72.00,5.00) 55=engine(72.0,104.5,5.00) 130=jettison() 130=jettison() 490=jettison()
MAybe the 130 jettisons are the srb separation

Hi Gattis, thanks for the reply.

Yes, you're right about what triggers the SRB separation under nominal conditions. I was merely wondering if there'd be a way to jettison them and the ET earlier, if needed.

No worries if not possible - was just curious.

The bigger question is whether I'd be able to use my HOTAS setup for the above mentioned maneuvering. Also, as I'm thinking about it, for RMS manipulation.

cheers,

dl

I know that J separates the ET from the shuttle. Not sure if you are do that in MS2015.

Not sure why Joystick would not work though.

Looking at different missions. Got parts of different missions. But need to make scenarios,.....

Looking at these:
STS 46 and STS-75 - tethered satellite's

STS-37 Would have a lot of mesh work and then try to figure out how to make it work,......

SpaceLab is basically done mesh wise. I would like to add a crew that you would move around, really just for show. Mesh could be redone for different mission and just make an simple cfg. No animations, cameras, VC or make SC4 or VB cfg for the meshes,.....

New ASE for sts5 are built and sts 7 and ASE for IUS are built also

Something that might be nice to have is a working MET clock. I know the SSU has one. BUt I would need help trying to get it working. Spacelab had one also.

Look real good ! I'd say don't be too shy on bevel, some sharp angles might look even more natural that way. ?

UGH!!!!. I am working on STS 5 ase. It looks like the SSU bridge rails may be the way to go. I need to make slight changes for this shuttle.

BUt then looking at other things. They may need to be remade. Like the cabinets. If the GAS and cabinets are held to the shuttle wall by that bracket. The space between the end needs to be the width of the rails

I am rethinking the ASE.
found this:

the blue bar is the static and the red dynamic.
I wish I had the distance between the trunnions. It looks like they are about 2.0M or 78.7402 inches.

And it looks like the bottom frame is covers. But the center section is wider at the center and tapers to the frame

It would nice to have dimension on the payload bay attachment devices.

And it looks as if the latches are in the middle between the ribs?

Rebuild the sts5 front ASE and rear ASE. Really can't just drop an ASE in. because the bridge rails are different.

Task Simulation Device and stowage for STS 5. But I maybe need to redo them. Because I think the Cabinet maybe too wide. I believe there pallet that would attach to the rails. And you can see one side goes beyond the rails.

Not sure if the rms light is pointed at the correct direction though. It seems also 90 degrees off
1vKRc6a.jpg

On the rms light:
arm_tip[4] = RMS_EE_LIGHT_POS; ... spotlightRMS = (SpotLight*)AddSpotLight((arm_tip[4]), _V(0, 0, -1), 20, 0.25, 0.8, 0.001, 80.0*RAD, 80.0*1.1*RAD,

It looks like the position only changes not the direction?

Fixed the light
spotlightRMS->SetDirection(arm_tip[1] - arm_tip[0]);
