    News Space Launch System News

Nice little thing from Reddit, someone stabilised the video so you can see the gimballing in action: https://gfycat.com/CalculatingAridCurassow I wonder what other Instagram filters NASA will apply their awesome minds to next...

Another one for the "What The Heck Is That?!" file: Yes, that IS a DC3 with a turboprop stuffed into its nose. AKA a Conroy Tri-Turbo-Three. Is that brilliance or sacrilege? I'm not quite sure...

News Flydubai flight FZ981 passenger Boeing from Dubai crashes in Rostov-on-Don

"SCE to AUX" is quite an interesting example of that point - out of a crew of astronauts and mission control, only one guy really knew that switch could save the situation.

Yup, that should be the punishment for any "this is why we can't have nice things" crime. Dad was a science teacher, he'd often talk about all the really cool (and safe) experiments that he and the students loved, but can't do any more because some nutcase somewhere once used a 5 molar solution...

News Seven outstanding Micro Bit projects(UK BBC school micro project)

Shame they didn't call it the BBC Nano, or Femto, seeming as this is the successor to the original Micro. Although I wonder how many kids' heads that would have gone over... Wish I'd had this come out when I was younger, would have been right up my street! I wonder how many of them are going to...

Letting the internet name things? Never really seems like a very good idea, although Boaty MacBoatface does actually sound rather adorable. Obligatory XKCD reference... In other news, what if the Saturn V was powered by elephants? (some elephants were slightly exploded in the making of this...

OS WARS MEGA THREAD (Now debating proprietary vs. open-source!)

With regards to "forced" updates, I'm on 10 now. But only because, apparently, "schedule the upgrade for two Saturdays ahead at 1 AM" actually means "DO IT NOW!!!!!!". Several hours and one unplanned all-nighter later, and I haven't had the best introduction to it... No idea what I did wrong...

    That ain't no asteroid, bud.

If you zoom in on the horizon, is that a whisp of an atmosphere, or just a compression artifact? Absolutely wonderful photo though...

    Vessel Boeing 747Z

What kind of runway would this land on?! The A380 pushes the limits at many airports in terms of width, I'm guessing this thing would be extremely limited on the airports it could actually land on? Thinking about it, that massive offset from the pilot's position to the centreline of the...
