    LUA Thruster groups and Lua

So I'm back (at least temporarily) after a long hiatus. Looks like times have been good in my absence. Orbiter 2010 is awesome.:tiphat: I've been playing with Lua a bit, because I want to experiment with writing autopilots, but I don't want to deal with c++. Unfortunately I've been having...

    Ringworld type object...

You're all thinking too hard. Just put an electric motor on the station, and attach a flywheel to it. Spin the flywheel. The station will spin the other way, because angular momentum is conserved. Release the flywheel afterwards so that friction doesn't slow the station down again, and voila...

News Iran Has a Dancing, Humanoid Robot

How long do the batteries/other power source last? Can it carry any load? Can it travel over rough terrain? How much information have they released about it's design? My google-fu is failing me, and I'm curious.

    Plasma "Balloon": is it possible?

I'm not convinced you understand why a lighter than air vehicle flies. Kinetic energy in the form of heat has (almost) nothing to do with it. It's exactly the same principle as an object floating or sinking in water. If an object is more dense than the fluid it is in (air, water, whatever), then...

    Orbiter 2010 in Linux

Hang on a minute, have you gotten wine to run orbiter in Linux glitch free? And with or without addons (such as OrbiterSound and the XR vessels)? I would try it myself, but I'm not at home right now, and I'm too curious to wait. If so... congratulations !

News First Flight of Boeing 787 - live webcast

Wow, where have I been all this time? The last I heard, the Dreamliner was just a dream, and was probably going to be cancelled. Good to see that Boeing hasn't lost it's touch after all.

What is the most crappy scifi ever?

I just saw Armageddon for the first time, because of all you guy's glowing reviews  "We're going to accelerate at 9.5 gees for eleven minutes" What? WHAT? I literally rewound 10 seconds to make sure I heard that right. I did. I grabbed my calculator. Did you guys know that: 9.5 g *...

    Exotic Gravity?

Things like this and the pioneer anomaly are just proof that we don't yet know everything. I, for one, welcome the challenge.

    Poll Sex Education

(Emphasis mine) Uhhh... what? Nobody was teaching me how to kill at age 6. Unless you mean swatting flies or something. What are you talking about?

    Poll Sex Education

    1. Are you a registered voter? Yes 2. Should sexual education classes be required for graduation from public high schools? Yes 3. Should sexual education classes be taught in public schools as early as middle school (grades 6 to 8)? Should be left up to local school board. 4. If sexual...

Metric or US customary? Which measurement system you perfer?

I was born and raised Imperial, but I hate it. There are only 3 things that would give me (personally) significant trouble if I switched to Metric. And I could get around these with a little work: 1. I visualize height and weight of people in imperial. 2. 3C miles per hour (a pretty common...
