panarchist

I've been flying spaceships in Orbiter since at least 2002, and KSP since late 2012. I've written short fiction for Ad Astra Games; helped design, proofread, and playtest their current and former products - Attack Vector: Tactical, Saganami Island Tactical Simulator, and Squadron Strike; contributed material to Winchell Chung's Atomic Rocket site; playtested Altea Aerospace's XR series, and the game Children of a Dead Earth; playtested and served on the QA team for Kerbal Space Program from versions 0.24 through 1.1; annoyed the other participants of the SFCONSIM-L from 1997 or so until a few years ago, and otherwise been a lurker or minor participant in most of the hard-SF games out there over the last 25 years.

My grandfather went to high school with Alan Shepard, and I have a bunch of space memorabilia from Apollo due to that connection, and I've been a fan of space hardware, missions, and "hard" science fiction (and "gritty" not-so-"hard" SF) including Babylon-5, The Expanse, Outland, Silent Running, Alien, and dozens of other movies, games, shows my entire life. Always happy to talk about these subjects, and debate the merits, "realism" and accuracy of these and related subjects. (respectful debate)

The online moniker "panarchist" comes from being a fan of the Exordium series by Sherwood Smith and Dave Trowbridge. If you haven't checked it out, consider it - it has a lot to recommend it.

Other than the space stuff, I've been a bicycle advocate for the last 15 years, co-founded 2 bike non-profit orgs, rode my bicycle across the USA from Astoria, Oregon to Cleveland, Ohio, summitted two major peaks in the Cascade Range, (Broken Top and Mt. St. Helens) and done a lot of hiking throughout the Pacific Northwest - I love the Cascades and the Olympics. (the mountain range, not the sports games)

Oh, and I'm also kind of a train nut. (it's ok to call me a "fern" or a "railfan") Big fan of Train Simulator, and especially some of the newer train sims like Derail Valley. I'm also former Navy, (carriers) so I'm a little fanatical about aircraft carriers, submarines, and the games that simuate them - DCS, the Silent Hunter series, Uboat, and Command: Modern Combat, among others.
