What happens when I'm given a keyboard and literally any spare time at all to write.

Contains my own personal opinions, not those of the sites I represent unless stated otherwise. Literally no rights reserved, except for the fiction category, which you can share provided my name stays on it as author. Unless you totally rewrite something inspired by my work, which would be downright awesome and I'd be wonderfully happy about that.

Under no circumstances

An interesting email hit my many inboxes today while working; well, actually several interesting, fifteen mundane, and three spam. But one in particular caught my eye, from our installations manager.

I currently work, in case you don't know, for my dad's solar PV panel installation company - so that kind of installation. He also manages stock and warehouses, and at any given moment he's probably the busiest person in or out of the office. We get on well.

Addiction.

Posted 07-28-2012 at 10:25 PM by Xyon (Rambling Sysadmin)

Oh help, I've become addicted to minecraft yet again.

It started out this time as a simple peek at the 1.3 snapshot preview thing doing the rounds - broke out the usual minecraft starting instincts, built some shelter, dug a mine, tested the new stuff, nicely nicely.

Then I got to wondering about the status of some of those old mods I used to use. 1.2.5, the last stable version, has been out for a little while now (though 1.3 is, from the looks of it, about to royally...

The Grind, v2.0

Posted 07-27-2012 at 05:41 PM by Xyon (Rambling Sysadmin)

So many things change about your life when you first have kids it's impossible to keep track of them all. Then the baby arrives, and everything changes. Your life's priorities, your sleeping pattern, your shopping...

Mumbling moderator

Posted 07-26-2012 at 09:35 AM by Xyon (Rambling Sysadmin)

Yeah, I totally forgot this thing existed again. Oh well.

It's been quite a year for me. I've met a new partner, had a new baby (bringing my progeny total to 3 now), moved house, changed jobs, and I'm in the planning phase of starting a business to undercut the service I already provide (because the price is wayyy inflated).

In short, much has changed, and I think at the moment all for the better. Things finally settled out long enough for me to practically sit down...

Snippets and stories

Posted 08-30-2010 at 09:47 PM by Xyon (Rambling Sysadmin)

See? Told you I'd forget about it. And yet, by posting in it, I negate that effect - I didn't actually forget, I just had nothing worth posting, so I didn't post. Would that much of the rest of the so-called "blogosphere" followed a similar principle - Got nothing to say? Then say nothing.

There now follows a small snippet of writing I dumped into IRC and pastebin a while back, edited a little to make it work better;

I remember a warm, comfortable,...
