Self-Balancing Robot

Posted 03-21-2016 at 08:05 AM by Notebook

Got the HK batteries, now I know why they were so cheap...OK for this project though. Be getting back into it, now the weather is improving.

Regarding the kit. Everything is there you need, except instructions! So, wouldn't recommend it as a first project. There is help on the web.
Also, they are up to version 3 in the series. May be worth checking which version suits you best.

Sainsmart Update 2

Posted 09-23-2015 at 02:37 PM by Notebook

Realised I had both motors wired wrong...robot was going in the opposite direction to the tilt. Why I didn't notice earlier who knows. I blame old-age.
Seems a lot more stable now it drives "under" the tilt. Nearly there, still waiting for the HK batteries.

New Blog!

Not directly Orbiter related, but close.
I'm interested in control systems and servos, so I thought I'd build this and get into PID in software/hardware.

It will take as long as it takes, and I'll post some pics and progress here. Haven't got all the bits to start yet, my soldering-iron is long lost...

Early release?

Posted 08-18-2009 at 06:30 AM by Notebook
Updated 08-21-2009 at 06:01 PM by Notebook (Addition)

Just wondering, the base is nearly done. Is it worth releasing it now, without the Blue Streak rocket? The rocket mesh/.dll will take me some time.
The base is designed around a tail sitter, some 20+metres off ground level. No runway, and the launcher structure/bucket hides any pad.

The base entry in the .cfg file normally has scale set to 0 0 0 to hide it.

Put the current Woomera 6A base...
