IAC2010 - Day 1

Technically my job began yesterday already, as I gave directions to a group of student participants that I met in the subway by coincidence. Looking forward to a quick ride back to the dormitory, I realized there's a bunch of youngsters like myself right next to me - space this, space that. I had some explaining to do as we took another train, and I couldn't stop chuckling.

Warning: this is a rant, in case the title were't obvious enough.

Anyway, I'm completely fed up with Vista's crap. Since a month after I got it, I've been fighting with UAC and Data Execution Prevention, which are supposedly helping protect my computer but in reality are doing very little of that and a whole lot of forcing me to run every little program as an administrator unless I want it to crash and burn, and still half the time preventing programs from working. IAC2010 - Prologue

The programme will be exhaustive, no doubt. I'm one of the CSO-based volunteers, so I didn't have to pay any fees but will have mainly work to do there. I plan to check out the exhibition and perhaps some plenary sessions in spare time. Or run off to school in the evening .

We've been briefed on safety. The Congress Centre building has its own fire department. We got numbers to call, hands-on experience with CO2 extinguishers and retractable fireproof walls. The view out to the north...

TARSS - Mission 2
