Posted 11-10-2010 at 12:27 PM by IronRain

Chapman probe will launch before Albatross
The Chapman probe will launch before Albatross. This because both NASA and ESA has refused to cooperated and select a landing site. This means that the Chapman probe will launch first to map parts of the surface of mars. After that, technicians can select a landing site for Albatross.

ME-3 arrived at MSSEU
ME-3 has arrived at the MSSEU a couple of days ago. Today, they have attached the trusses that will hold the new solar panels, which will be launched later. They will perform their TEI burn next Wednesday. They will splashdown Saturday.

Ares-1 parts moved to VAB
The parts of Ares-1, which were stored in the big hangar, are moved to the VAB. They will be assembled to form a launcher for the Orion spacecraft, which already is being prepared in the Spacecraft Preparation Building. Orion-1 will be the first test flight of the Orion spacecraft. It will be unmanned. How long the test mission will last is TBD. Orion-1 will launch after the ME-3 mission, because there is a gap after this mission, since HASSESA will perform the next 2 missions. The exact launch time is still TBD.

New satellite network gets a name
The new satellite network that's going to be launched by HASA will be called SNOFAS. SNOFAS stands for Satellite Network fOr Finding trApped Skiers. SNOFAS will help to find trapped skiers. They have to wear a special device, and as soon as they push a button, the satellites will give the location to rescuers that controls that area. The satellites will be launched atop of a Ariane 4 in the 44 LP configuration. The first satellite will launch early 2011.

HASA leases another plane from V-Bird
