Distributed Version Control even for the smallest team

Some readers of this blog series might have googled for DVCS, and found one of the IMHO cutest arguments against using a DVCS:

I'm so bold now to proclaim that especially for the lonesome cowboy coder, a DVCS fits the needs. Let me show - as promised - what the last post's...

In the last post I defined version control as the means you use to keep versions of your add-on project under control. But what does version control actually bring to the table of add-on development? Why should you use it for something as small as e.g. a scenario add-on (ok, ok, there is another flame-war hidden in that).



Well, for starters there are some fancy marketing bulleting points to almost every "product"...

Version Control in Orbiter Add-On Development

So there I was wondering what version control system folks use for Orbiter add-on development.
"Let's start a poll about it", I thought.
"Let's put a I-don't-have-a-clue-what-you-mean option to the end of it", I thought.
...and of course people used that option! Around 30%, even!

So I opened my big mouth and asked if it would be a good idea to start a blog series about version control in add-on development. Some agreed, and well... here I am....

Why VSAs and OMP don't go along... yet

I think it is high time to write a bit about the topic of virtual space agencies and their implicit desire to use a multiplayer framework.

Why I think so?

Well, it is a re-occuring pattern to have some new member join O-F and get the cool and original idea to start a virtual space agency. Most of the time, this new member is rather young and seems to have high ambitions to start his career right on top of the hierarchy (it is rocket business after all, isn't it?). And...
