Part 5: Bags and Tags

Posted 05-13-2013 at 04:56 PM by MaverickSawyer

Before I begin, I want to say that this may be the last one for a while, as I have a couple of real-life situations that are going to come to a nexus here in the next month or so, and I'm going to be going through some pretty dramatic changes in my life. I'll continue to post continuations of the series as I find time.

Beneath The Wing, Part 5: Bags and Tags.

Next time you fly with an airline, don't just cut off that little strip of paper and plastic that got...

Syracuse; Mission 1 (Victor's point of view)

It was with great relief that Victor (Hugo) Patel watched the massive rocket riding on a column of flame and exhaust as it cleared the launch pad. The Energia stack looked somewhat ungainly and graceful at once as the stack began to pirouette towards the launch heading as directed by the flight computer. Eight minutes, Victor reminded himself, if I can make it eight minutes Iíll be OK. Behind him there was a team of people enjoying a mix of hamburgers, fries, hot dogs and bratwursts, as the Phantom...

Orbiter vs KSP - Comparable?

Posted 03-04-2014 at 06:14 PM by Swigert

Although KSP wasn't intended to compete with Orbiter, I've caught myself, and I'm sure others have too, comparing the two.

Kerbal Space Program is a fictional "half-simulator-half-sandbox" game where you design, build, fly, and sadly, sometimes crash your own spacecrafts. It's in some, I'm assuming, fictional solar system featuring planets that are like our own. For example, the in-game planet Duna is very similar to Mars. Kerbin is a a smaller version of Earth! And well,...

Xeno... NUTS!

Posted 05-31-2014 at 11:28 AM by jedidia

It's a good time to be a fan of the old game "UFO: Enemy unknown" (or X-COM: UFO defense, depending on where you live). It's undoubtedly the best time for it since the original title hit the shelves. One might be so bold to argue that it's a better time.

It is really perplexing: Ufo: Enemy unknown was one of the best turnbased squad tactics games of all time. What made it so beloved was not just its great mechanics and its unforgivable difficulty, it was also the fact that...

Flight 19 - Just Do It

Posted 02-08-2015 at 04:46 PM by n122vu

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

Tonight's flight was fairly straightforward, but 34Q had more than just door paneling replaced last week it seems.

Randy mentioned as we entered the flight school lobby that the new seats had also been installed so I'd be sitting up a little higher. I've mentioned before, I'm not a tall man, so every inch of vertical boost counts, especially in the plane. As I opened the left-side door I got my first look. Gone is all of the 70's era...
