CTV-01 test vehicle

The first vehicle of the CTV serie blasted off aboard an Ariane 5 from Kourou this morning (local time).

CTV-01 is unmanned.
It is the 1st of 2 unmanned flight that will test deeply all the systems.

Mission duration is 2 days, and will end with reentry and recovery of the capsule.

CTV-03 will carry 4 astronauts in orbit.
Manned science flights will be CTV-03, 04 and 05, and will end...

STS-27 with S5 and MPLM-2

Space Shuttle discovery lifted off on mission STS-27 to deliver starboard adapter S5 that will allow attachment of the final array set in early 2011, and MPLM-2 that will substitute MPLM-1 as a storage module with a capability of fuel storage of 1000 kg, 600 kg more than the previous one.

4 EVAs are scheduled:
-EVA1: attachment of the S5 segment to S4.
-EVA2: temporary docking of MPLM-2 to the port side of Multi-docking...

Space Shuttle Constitution is about to lift off from Pad 39A to start STS-FA10. Constitution will deliver the HAB 1 Module and Logistics Module (LM) 2 to Space Station Freedom.

STS-FA10 is underway. No issues with the ascent and Constitution is on its way to the SSF.

UPDATE: 29 Aug. 2010
STS-FA 10 has been completed. Constitution is now being prepared for its flight to VAFB via the SCA.

Progress-06 lifted off from Baikonur Cosmodrome this evening for the 6th resupply mission to CSS.
It will deliver supplies in preparation for arrival of Discovery's STS-27 mission in late October, and fuel for CSS and for the upcoming MPLM Raffaello's reserve tanks.

The next shuttle departing from KSC will be shuttle Constitution on mission STS-FA10. This flight is the reasigned payloads from the previously aborted flight STS-FA9. The main payload is the same, the Habitation Module. The SSRMS 2 that was to go up on FA9 has been moved to the first flight of the Shuttle-C that will take place in September of this year. In its place, the second Logistics Module will be sent up on this flight. Constitution has been selected as the orbiter...
