I have fought to put this moment off for as long as possible, but it finally happened. I have to take a break from orbiter galaxy developement. The project isn't by any means abbandoned, but it might be quite a while until I pick developement up again.

The reason is a little pecularity of mine: I have two major areas of interest, Science Fiction and Fantasy. They don't go parallel, instead the focus shifts in not too regular intervals. And whenever I'm into the one, I am pretty disinterested...

The after-release fuss is dying down, most serious troubles seem to be fixed, only one update to version 0.6 is left to finish, and that not too big either. There will probably be another update on 0.6 once a new Orulex version comes out, which will be on tuesday, for all I know.

I am pleased that Orbiter Galaxy has managed to give birth to its first offspring at such an early stage that I hope will come in handy for other add-on developers, see .

Getting closer and closer to a first playable release, I felt like summarizing a few of the thoughts and expieriences I had during the now over two years of developement of Orbiter Galaxy.

It was one of my goals from the start to make the Galaxy Map as accessible as I possibly can, with a maximum of oversight. It is a thing I missed in each and every single space-sim I played. It is all nice to have...

Seriously, look at three of my four latest blog entries, and it can really make you wonder how unimaginative a man can be... But I allways sucked at naming things. I'll try to do better in the future none the less!

Anyways, as every month my connection died a rather rapid death after the twentieth, with the last 6 days of the month being effectively in the grave. Precise like a swiss clock it came back on the first, so I can post again. I really have to have a chat with my provider,...

Of course, everything is not as easy as I thought it would be, beginning with the purely mathematical problems described in my last post, and now continuing with problems in the implementation: It turns out that my whole calculation assuming a legion of spherical cows suffers a problem not uncommon for overly generalised solutions, which is insufficient accuracy.
