Andromeda project

Posted 12-06-2015 at 10:50 PM by Matias Saibene

Some time ago I wrote a story about spaceships, and others topics. But due to I'm not a good writer, in 2009 I decided to start drawing the ships that I imagined in 3D, and I learned to draw in Google SketchUp.

This is how it looks currently the 7z folder where I store useless junk my models (407MB).
When I found Orbiter 2010, I decided to create my ships for Orbiter, but also found a lot of impossibilities...

Going to live on myself

Posted 12-05-2015 at 06:07 PM by IronRain

Hi everyone!

Last Tuesday, I received an unexpected e-mail from the housing company in my city that one of the houses that I'd bid one was now available for me. That meant that I had 6 days to think about it, and eventually decide wether I'm going to do it or not.

The rent for this house is pretty low. They have a system here specially for the younger people in the city, where the rent is low and you have some perks. I'm 22 now, and although I'm fortunate enough to...

Topping off SSTV-01's fuel tanks went off without any flags. Our departure from the Titan Station took place on schedule just 24 hours after the station went Initial Operational Capacity (IOC). After falling towards Saturn for the better part of a day, our TEI burn to initiate our 99 day return trip back to the Lunar Station was performed at closest approach. Our closest approach to Saturn was well outside the visible rings and we were able to take many wonderful photos as we left the Saturn system....

My numerical package is ready

I've just completed a numerical package which consists of optimisation and root finding algorithms, which should be of use in some Orbiter projects or at some jobs.

For those who don't know, numerical optimisation is finding numerically a minimum of a function (say closest distance, time or fuel cost function), and returning argument where the minimum is achieved. OTOH root finding returns an argument for which the function value crosses 0, but in a computer program, it could be any...

After working through many unexpected surprises during the Titan Station construction, it is now within a day or 2 of IOC. As we are not scheduled to actually depart for another 5 days, the slight delay in IOC should not impact our departure date.

Refueling of SSTV-01 was completed a week ago, so we have used the extra time to help out with the Titan Station construction. We will top off our tanks to replace boil off tomorrow as scheduled and depart the Titan Station on Day 295 of...
