Lajes Field - LPLA

Was used as a Shuttle Emergency Landing site. Includes surface tiles, rough 3D objects and some scenarios.
Best use with other Shuttle Abort Sites (Vol I and II) and Shuttle Fleet 4.8 (needed for a scenario).
Enjoy flights !

Folks. There is something called image editor. It comes in various forms and names (like Gimp, Photoshop, Paint.Net) and it provides you with means to edit clouds out. Show a little effort at least in that when base maker gives you quick way to position buildings.

I used GIMP for the alpha channel of the tiles. But because of I don't have any aerial pictures of the site for now, I can't remove the clouds. Or else you'll have a brown-like part on the texture. But I have my own idea ...

How would you remove clouds with an image editor? Sounds incredibly hard if not impossible. Especially when the clouds are almost opaque.

You don't have to be accurate, just copy and paste bits of other parts of the base to the areas obscured by the base. As long as it blends in it will look a lot more natural.

Another option is to use several different sources for the tiles and blend them so that the result has no clouds.

Especially with options like matching colors, layers, and different blending options you can get very accurate and eye pleasing results. It just need a little thinking and then little effort.

Here is quick example - I've removed some clouds so you can compare (it took around 10 mins):

I don't see much difference over the base itself.
