This thread is for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway addon for Orbiter.
Main straightaways are equipped as runways (1006m long and 15.4m wide) to challenge the landing skills of any pilot. Try not to wipe out the crowds! Last edited by dougkeenan; 10-22-2008 at 10:32 PM. |

Hi Doug. Nice work on IMS. I had thought of something similar to this myself, had the surface tiles already done, but never got around to finished. Mainly for use with Kev Shannow's K-Car-v2 (Lotus racing car) and his K-Motorbike add-ons. The racetrack mesh is the key, fanatastic! Changed the first runway light to BEACONARRY for "floodlights" down the main stretch in front to the main viewstand:
BEACONARRAY END1 -470 08 -370 END2 470 08 -370 COUNT 60 SIZE .5 COL 1 1 1 END Will try to add another BeaconArray section for the other section. Have a screenshot, but can't seem to able to insert. |

Oh, I see what you're doing - that's really cool! I didn't even know about those, still learning about surface bases.
Regarding the track mesh, the bank angle is correct and to scale, but vessels will still go through it unless their touchdown points are adjusted. On quite a few of my touchdowns I can barely slow enough for my ship to "make the turn" and not wipe out crowds in the Turn 1 or Turn 3 bleachers! |

Hi Doug. The Beaconarray usage in this aspect was used by Jose Sanchez in his Alysimia base add-on for making "streetlights", looks pretty nice; just thought I would "throw it in".
