As Deke opened the hatch, he didnt know what to expect. A live Russian perhaps.
"Houston, this is Deke."
"Go ahead."
"I'm inside the lander. Its dark in here. I'm going to turn on my helmet lights and start looking for the timer."
Pitch black, he switched his helmet lights on to look for something that looked like a timer. Only he wasn't alone.
"Christ!"...

DIASA Session #1-Spaceflight

Hello to all
In my previous blog post, I told everyone about the project I started in my school, a 'sort' of VSA called the DIA Space Administration (DIASA). We had our intro session last week and today we had our first spaceflight session!

The enthusiasm from some of the students is great!! On the first day of using orbiter they have grasped on how it works and how to do basic rotational and translational maneuvers in orbit, and we also used the Atlantis Final Approach...

what do we have here
thought Deke as he inspected the shredded thermal foil on the decent stage. It did look as though the O2 tank was compromised and ripped through the RCS lines and other bits.

'Freedom, Houston, how copy?' Silence... 'Freedom, houston, do you read? Still Nothing... Capcom Joe Kerwin was getting worried. The comms shortage was supposed to last 30 seconds...it was getting on towards 90 seconds.

'Forward Thrusters gone! Thrust is down 30%! Counter-acting.' Shouted Deke Slayton. He and commander Fred Haise were trying to land on a wing and a prayer at this point. With the forward RCS thrusters gone, little could be done, except abort. This was impossible....
