Prior to MCC #3 all hydroponics and life support modules were shut down and safed. All centrifuges were also shut down and living quarters locked down.

MCC #3 performed without any flags. Preliminary calculation for MCC #4 is less than 10 m/s and may not have to be performed. All EHE used for MCC #3 and operated normally.

After MCC #3 was completed, SSTV-01 was reorientated back to cruise attitude and all hydroponics and life support modules were turned back on. Life...

One day from MCC #3. Minor engineering issues have popped up over the last 20 days. None of them were mission threatening. 2 of the EHEs have had problems with their heating systems but they have been repaired.

Calculations for the delta V requirements for MCC #3 are well within the limits designed into the mission profile. The MCC will occur at 1600 hours ship time and all 4 crew members will be awake and on duty during the burn.

Slight modifications to the mission...

Syracuse; Mission 1 (Victor's point of view)

It was with great relief that Victor (Hugo) Patel watched the massive rocket riding on a column of flame and exhaust as it cleared the launch pad. The Energia stack looked somewhat ungainly and graceful at once as the stack began to pirouette towards the launch heading as directed by the flight computer. Eight minutes, Victor reminded himself, if I can make it eight minutes Iíll be OK. Behind him there was a team of people enjoying a mix of hamburgers, fries, hot dogs and bratwursts, as the Phantom...

Long Story Short . . .

MJD 56529

The short story is . . . I (or should I say "we?") made it to Mars. Perhaps I shouldn't say anything. In fact, I think I am breaking a law by doing so. It is a secret law for a secret program. So saying something might be okay. Until I died a secret death by a secret agent. The dead tell no tales.

I don't regret where I am or what I am doing. I just don't know what I'm doing. It's a bit difficult to run a secret program, things have to be done quick...

NASA-STP002x - Mission Blog (A FNG Learns Orbiter)

If you have been in the military, or watched movies about them, or are generally aware, you know what FNG means. When it comes to Orbiter, that's me.

NASA-STP002x is the Mission name I gave to my first real attempt to get somewhere outside of the Earth's SOI. Not counting the first couple of days when I ran the sim with the "unlimited fuel" and no damage options checked. (Note to self: I need to find out where those buttons are in real life and make sure they are checked)....
