4 XR5 payloads have been attached to SSTV-01 in the last 24 hours with 2 more docked and ready to unload at this time. We had several XR2s sponsored by media outlets come within a kilometer of the ISS, but as they didn't have permission to dock with the ISS that was as close as they could come. They were wanting interviews with the SSVT-01 crew, but we're all way too busy getting all our cargo pods docked and locked down.

All boards are green at this time.

MCC 2 using the reverse EHEs was performed without any issues. The burn was quite short but we collected good data on the reverse EHEs performance. Both engines ran at nominal temperatures during the entire burn.

Earth orbit insertion went off without a problem. Orbital plane matching with the ISS was a bit difficult due to the 'excessive' thrust provided by the EHEs. We shut down 13 of them and only used 4 after overshooting the first phasing burn attempt. Much better fine control...

DIY Flightsims - Floor Unit with Center Joystick - Progress Update 3

More progress this evening. The second coat of paint has been applied to frame, joystick mount, and throttle mount, as well as to the rudder pedals. I'm no Michelangelo, but I'm pleased with how it has turned out. I will probably bring it back out at some point and do a little sanding/touch up work in some spots, but I'm ready to get this wrapped up and get flying. The DCS A-10C is calling my name...

Once the paint dries, I'll need to re-attach the rudder mount boards, bring...

First day of the mission is now in the history books. All boards are showing green although about an hour ago a small leak was detected in 1 of the unpowered hydroponics modules. Turned out to be a false alarm so the sensor was changed out with a spare.

Mission timeline is as follows:
  • T+30 hours MCC 2 (will use the reverse direction ETEs in their first burn of the mission)
  • T+2 days Calculate Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Injection burn parameters, shut down hydroponics, life support,

DIY Flightsims - Floor Unit with Center Joystick - Progress Update 2

Painting Day! The mounting boards for the rudders have been removed and labeled. The first coat of paint has been applied and is drying as I type.

Next step - once this coat dries, flip the unit up on its 'back' and paint the bottom. After that dries, back down on its base and apply the second coat.

Quick pic of the first coat (Apologies for blurriness. Tired, and the iPhone 4S has one of the worst phone cameras I've ever used).
