The Drawing Board

Posted 04-05-2011 at 12:45 AM by Izack

Some things I'd like to make at some point:

1. Two-stage expendable bimodal-NTR interplanetary engine, similar in concept to what's seen here: http://projectrho.com/rocket/images/...ission--02.jpg
This is my primary goal right now, to be used for another stab at finishing the OFMM project.

Obstacles: No modeling skills. If anyone would like to make this model, holler, though I haven't much free time lately.

2. DLL modules for a few of Andy44's addons. They're really cool and would make a great learning experience for coding, whether or not they actually make it to the community.

Obstacles: Time, mostly. Time and patience.

3. Time for laughable not-serious long-term speculations. A generic vessel module much like spacecraft3 but specialised to toying with Orbiter's newer additions, like local light sources and most importantly the LUA interface. In other words, mostly just an étude in coding for Orbiter, and not an easy cop-out for developers.

Obstacle: No confidence whatsoever I could so something like that as I am now. But maybe someday?

Thoughts? Go ahead and laugh, criticise and whatnot.

I too would like to see OFMM restarted and although my modeling skills are also nonexistent I could help with other aspects of the project (coding and stuff.)

Isn't Orbiter's script vessel implementation sort of what you're describing? I don't think it has a LUA interface but that could probably be added (not by me, mind you, but by someone who actually knows what they're doing.)

    Oh, please. Be more confident
I'd like to model for you, too, but I still haven't gotten the hand of UVW mapping+texturing. I think I might try out something other than Wings and see how that goes over.

    The link to the picture you posted gives me a 403, but I think I know which one you mean. ^^;

I'd love to see OFMM restarted as well...but with less fanfare this time...

    Well that's odd.

It's on this page, the first image in the second set by William Black:

No hotlinking for images on that page, guarded by checking referrers.

However, there's no need to go on that page and click on a thumbnail. When you have 403 page, just press enter in the address bar. Next requests for that image are cached, so even clicking on the link here will display the image.
