Addiction.

Oh help, I've become addicted to minecraft yet again.
It started out this time as a simple peek at the 1.3 snapshot preview thing doing the rounds - broke out the usual minecraft starting instincts, built some shelter, dug a mine, tested the new stuff, nicely nicely.
Then I got to wondering about the status of some of those old mods I used to use. 1.2.5, the last stable version, has been out for a little while now (though 1.3 is, from the looks of it, about to royally break all the mods again as probably will 1.4 while they add in the mod API and they've removed single-player in the form that it used to be) and I was curious to see how mods like IC2, Buildcraft and Redpower 2 had been coming along in my absence... Well. Those mods got me on to another mod called Railcraft which introduces signalling and high-speed rail and proper junctions and trains and...
Yeah so anyway, my minecraft now has all 4 installed (I reverted to 1.2.5). They're all gelled nicely together and (along with my essential TMI mod) we're taking a mountaintop and making it mine. Er, ours. Somebody's, anyway.

Not that you need even MOAR stuff, but if you like IC2, Buildcraft and RedPower, might I suggest you look at The Technic Pack: http://www.technicpack.net/Posted 07-28-2012 at 11:25 PM by jangofett287

Yeah, Railcraft is great.Quote:Those mods got me on to another mod called Railcraft which introduces signalling and high-speed rail and proper junctions and trains and...
If Forge/FML get updated to Minecraft 1.3.1 (already), then I can't see problems with mods like IC2, Buildcraft being updated too. MCP is almost ready for being released.Quote:(though 1.3 is, from the looks of it, about to royally break all the mods again
Replace it with NEI (ChickenBones Mods). You'll never want to go back to TMI.Quote:(along with my essential TMI mod)

I'll quote a part of the original post:
There are also plug-ins allowing to show Railcraft, Buildcraft, RedPower, IC2, Forestry, Thaumcraft (whatever it is) specific recipes.Quote:Now you're probably thinking, I've seen TMI before, what a ripoff. What makes this one so much better? For a detailed explanation read on. A simple list is below.- Recipe Mode (Crafting, Smelting, Brewing)
- Item Searching
- Item Subset Dropdown menu (Hiding\Showing)
- Complete SMP support if installed on server
- Enchantment Sector
- All types of Mob Spawners obtainable and place able.
- Magnetic Mode
- Heal Button
- Mob Spawners in SMP show the mob type
- Advanced configuration files
- In game Options Menu
- A few handling tweaks
- An Extended API supporting extended item damages, mod based sorting tags and custom recipes with ModLoader type loader
